Error: PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly

Hi everyone! currently i'm facing some issue while refreshing dataflow and getting this error message:

Error: PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly with code 0x0000DEAD. PID: 8160.. RootActivityId = 5b90459e-7e9b-44c4-bfd6-a0a4e8cff036.Param1 = PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly with code 0x0000DEAD. PID: 8160. Request ID: c7e35089-55a7-445c-94a5-1daf6d628401.

could any one help this issue?

  • Hi risw

The error 0x0000DEAD usually indicates a dataflow pipeline failure. Check connections, simplify queries, inspect logs using the RootActivityId, and ensure resource limits aren’t exceeded. Retry the refresh or contact Microsoft Support with the RootActivityId and Request ID if needed.

    Hi risw,

Thankyou for reaching out to Microsoft fabric Community Support.

The error PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly with code 0x0000DEAD in a Power BI Dataflow typically indicates a container or resource failure during the dataflow refresh process. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Query Complexity or Resource Limitations
    • Simplify your queries in the dataflow, especially if you are performing:
      • Complex joins or merges.
      • Large Group By or sorting operations.
      • Transformations on very large datasets.

    1. Validate the Data Source
    • Verify that the source data is accessible and does not have issues (e.g., file corruption, invalid rows).

    1. Check the Dataflow Refresh History
    • In the Power BI Service:
      1. Go to the Dataflow settings.
      2. Check the refresh history for additional error details or patterns.
    • This might give more insight into where the process is failing.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please contact Microsoft Support with:  The RootActivityId and The Request ID
