Hi,
I'm a Power BI Pro user, sharing reports with others in my organisation.
My report is set up connecting to about 5 other Power BI Reports already published to the Service, using a Direct Query connection - this is so I can given an overall summary across different Departments without having to build out the metrics separately, to help manage changes to metrics.
This is then refreshing using a Gateway Connection.
My shared users are getting a notification saying there's an "error fetching data for the visual" on all visuals and pages. I read somewhere this could be a permissions issue, perhaps with the Gateway. It's working fine for me, but not for anyone I've shared it with.
Any ideas on how I can resolve this?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,
We have resolved the issue at our end.
We found that we needed to grant users permission to the semantic model of the original report only, so they can't see the visuals, but have access to the data.
This then allowed them to view the full data on the report which connects to all sematic models.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi @Mark_Holland_GD,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
It looks like you are facing error with the reports you shared within your organisation. The shared users see an error saying"error fetching data for the visual". As you and @Akash_Varuna already mentioned earlier that it may be because of permissions on the underlying datasets or it may be a gateway configuration issue. Please go through the suggested reasons and check if this solves your issue. If you are able to solve the issue, kindly mark the helpful reply as solution.
I would also take a moment to thank @Akash_Varuna, for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions you’ve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.

Hi @Mark_Holland_GD , I think the issue might stem from permissions or gateway configuration. Ensure all shared users have access to the underlying datasets and that the gateway is properly configured for those datasets.Check for RLS also
If this post helped please do give a kudos and accept this as a solution
Thanks In Advance
