Error: Couldn't retrieve data for this visual. Please try again later.

This error has started showing up within the service for visuals that are using data from our SQL Database.  I am still able to view these visuals in the desktop version, but the published version is showing errors.  Previously, these visuals were appearing, but as of about two weeks ago, they have been erroring out.  I am unable to click on the "Show details" link for the error at the top but can click into the individual visual errors.  Any ideas on this?  I currently have a ticket open but the only "solutions" they came up with was to change some capitalization in power query which of course did nothing.. Call Center Error.PNG

Are you suing direct query for this report, It seems your gateway connection is broken (refer top message)

In my case I had to grant permissions to the main dataset (just the data, not the report), as the direct query data originates there, and it worked!

Hi, @wjey9f

You can check the similar solved case: Solved: Couldn't load the data for this visual - Microsoft Power BI Community  Check if there is a problem with the query.

If you have opened the support ticket, you can also add details to ask the engineer.

Best Regards

Yes this is direct query.  And can you help explain what you mean by the gateway connection is broken?  We have it set up on our enterprise gateway and in the dataset configuration it appears that it is all connected.  The dataset even refreshes successfully.  Would the refresh still go through successfully if the gateway connection was broken?

what error meesge you get for individual visual ?
