Enterprise gateway error suddenly to SQL connection

Hi guys,

I had suddenly received a strange error on my enterprise gateway.

This is the scenario:

we have a dataset that was working correctly (till yesterday) with scheduled refresh from multiple data sources. Suddenly I received a lot of email warning me that the refresh was not working.

I found the problem in a particular data source (SQL) that stopped working from one day to another.

I tried to connect through PBI Desktop and I can query he DB, but when I try to configure the source on the gateway I receive the following error message:

"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

Does anybody exeprienced a similar situation? What can I look into the server in order to understand what is changed?

MY  IT  department does not worked on the server in these days.

Thanks

Ale

Hi @Anonymous,

I tried to connect through PBI Desktop and I can query he DB,

Are the SQL DB and PBI Desktop on the same server/computer?

Could you try using “IP address, port” or “tcp:computername” as server name to connect to SQL Server and check if it is successful. For more detailed troubleshooting steps, please review the following blog.

In addition, here is a similar thread in which a workaround was mentioned. Could you go to check if it helps in your scenario? Smiley Happy
