Enterprise Gateway - Local Folder Data Source - Windows Auth Fails

Please help!

I am not an IT expert, so this is well outside my comfort zone.

I have just installed an Enterprise Gateway onto a network machine, and configured it with an Admin account.

I then went to test it on the service, and could not successfully access the data source.

I am sure I have just missed a simple setting, but not sure what is likely to be the culprit.

When on the service as the testing user, I can access the gateway and choose to configure the datasource.

The datasource path is C:\Users\TestUser\...

Authentication is forced to Windows (no options here)

Windows Username = TestUser

Windows password = password i used to log into windows machine

When I click save however, i get the following error:

I am not sure what setting I am missing that would be causing this authentication to fail.

Please help.

  • Hi CloudStrife ,

The issue is almost asuredly that you have started the string with "C:\".  The Service does not know where "C" is as it is on the cloud.  Your options are to use the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) of the location that includes your computer name.  If this is an Excel file you would better be suited to follow these instructions:

Get data from Excel workbook files - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

If you put this into an online location you would most likely not have to use the gateway at all (like SharePoint Online)
