Embedding Report into custom Application. || Emergency

Hello all,
I need to embed PBI report in to web application which my Org built.
i was very confused about the Licensing needed for Embedding.

PBI Embeded  licence starts with around 750 $ per month
PBI Premium Capacity license costs around 5000 $ per month ( is NOT Affordable )

Someone tell me PBI Embedded License is enough to Embed the report into the web application or do we need to purchase premium capacity compulsorily  ??

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @PremK ,

Both PBI Embedded and PBI premium Capacity are licenses. Both of them can create “Capacity”, which is determined by SKUs, PBI Embedded creates A SKU, which can only use the basic functions and cannot be shared with free users. PBI Premium Capacity creates a more advanced “Capacity” that can be shared with free users when it reaches F64.

Hope it helps!

Hi @PremK ,

PBI Embeded licence,Suitable for embedding reports and dashboards into your custom applications for customer without additional features like larger dataset sizes, paginated reports, and AI capabilities. If your primary goal is to embed reports into a web application for external users, the Power BI Embedded license should be sufficient. It is designed for this purpose and is more cost-effective.

Hope it helps!

Hi @PremK ,

If you are going for reserved premium capacities and if your organisation have any enterprise agreements/Mou with Microsoft you can get premium capacity at lower price. Please contact azure sales team https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/contact

I hope it will be helpful.

Thanks,

Hi uzuntasgokberk , i really appriciate your assistance

I reviewed this topic, this is not useful for my case. because i need to know whether, just by using PBI Embedded license can i embed the report in to our web application in Production level, or do we compulsorily need to purchase Premium Capacity license.  ???

Capacity is way more costlier, which is not affordable.

my Organisation have only 5 reports but the users of web application are huge ( more than 1000 ).

Hi @PremK , You wont need PowerBI premium license compulsorily as there is a Embedded plan as well . Refer this link: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/pricing/details/power-bi-embedded/ .

Hello @powerbidev123, i appriciate your response

In the developers guid to PBI Embedded from MS, ive seen that when we need to move to Production then need to purchase Capacity. kindly refer this page

some are telling Cpacity is not need and some are telling capacity is needed.
I really confused now 😵😵

Hi @PremK ,

This capacity refers to the SKU, both can create capacity, only because the SKU is different and provides different functions.

Hope it helps!

PBI Embedded is different and PBI premium Capacity is different right ?

my only concern is to Embed PBI report in to web application which we built, the users are more so cant provide pro license to all and at the same time cant purchase the capacity ( because capacity is very expensive, 5000 $ per month ).

the method i was planning is Embed for Customers.

what should i do now ??

i hope my question is clear...

@PremK , Yes capacity would be needed to move your embedded reports workspace into it . My organisation is currently having the least capacity plan of SKU A1 . You can check more about on this capacity site : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/move-to-production#create-a-capacity

@powerbidev123, can you pls confirm, using this SKU A1 capacity how many reports are embedded and how many users (Non-PBI users - users who dont have PBI License) are using this embedded report and the report performance is good or not inside the website which your embedded ??

and how much amount your Organization is paying for this SKU A1 capacity monthly ?
can you pls provide thse details ??

Hi @PremK , Currently we have approx 20 reports published in the workspace that used SKU-A1 capacity plan. All of the reports are embedded in the application and work well performance wise.

The costing of the plan comes up to $ 735/month or $1/hour

Please refer this link for the pricing : https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/power-bi-embedded/

we decided to use PBI embedded Capacity.
but issue comes with, the users of the website will use different gmail accounts. but the Embedded reports require Microsoft logIn whci is not possible.

how to overcome this Microsoft login issue for users ?

@powerbidev123  -

can you give some clarification on this please
