Embedded map not showing correctly on webpage
- 6 months ago
Looks like it had to do with the ArcGIS settings. Once those were enabled in the tenet and desktop settings, everything showed up as expected again. So probably a combo of the ArcGIS and embedded settings. Thanks everyone!
Hi FarquharG ,
Thanks for checking and getting back. You wouldn’t see this in Power BI Desktop or in the report-level embed options. The setting that affects Azure Maps in embedded reports is a tenant level setting, and it’s only visible to Power BI tenant admins.
An admin would need to check
Power BI Service → Admin Portal → Tenant settings → Azure Maps
visual. If this is disabled or restricted, the map can still load, but the data points (markers) won’t render when the report is embedded.
I hope this clarifies the situation. If I’ve misunderstood any part of your setup, please let us know.
Thanks! Checking with my admin to see if this is disabled.

Thanks for the update. That sounds like a good next step. I just wanted to check if you were able to connect with your admin team and whether there are any updates.
If you’ve received any information, could you please share it here? It would be helpful for others who might be facing the same issue.
Looking forward to your response.

So, there were a few places that the admin checked and one of the boxes was unchecked. This, however, did not resolve the issue. I due believe the issue is caused by upgrading to Azure maps as I have an old map that was not upgraded and still appears to be working fine on the website. This is a real head scratcher!

Thanks for the update. Since the admin has already checked the tenant settings and the issue persists, and the old map still works on the website, this could be related to the Azure Maps upgrade in the embedded view.
Because it works in Desktop and Power BI Service but not on the website, it seems the problem is with how the report loads on the site.
Could you ask your website team to open the embedded page and check the Console tab for any errors when the page loads? Sometimes the map appears but the markers are missing if something is blocked.
If possible, try embedding a simple test report with only an Azure Maps visual. If the markers are still missing, then the issue is likely on the website side rather than the report.
Thanks.
