Embed Pre-Filtered Power BI Report in different SharePoint Sites based on Project

Hi All,

Not sure how to tackle this problem.

We have a report which I'll refer to as 'Report X' published in Power BI service. This report has project based RLS configured for end users based on email addresses and projects they are assigned to. Some users will have access to more than one project, and some users will be able to see all projects, but most can only see one project.

Alongside this we have SharePoint sites set up for each project, for example:

https://Company365.sharepoint.com/sites/Company/ProjectA/

https://Company365.sharepoint.com/sites/Company/ProjectB/

https://Company365.sharepoint.com/sites/Company/ProjectC/

This one report sitting in Power BI Service 'Report X' will be embedded into all SharePoint project sites.

RLS will be able to take care of end user security requirements ensuring that users can only see the underlying data for projects they are assigned to, but my question is:

Is there a way to pre/post-filter the report embedded in SharePoint Site Project A to only show Project A data.

We don't want users who have access to multiple projects to see Project A data in Project B's SharePoint site.

We don't want to create a separate report for each site as we will have 30+ copies for all projects to maintain and update.

The basic premise is:

'Report X' is embedded in a SharePoint site which has been set up for Project A, please do not show any other projects on this website even if this person has access to the underlying data.

Notes:

- Users cannot select a project in 'Report X'. They can navigate to the SharePoint Project site they want to see and if they have access then they can view the underlying data.

- We tried creating bookmarks for each project within the report and embedding those bookmark links but that didn’t work.

- All our data is sitting in SharePoint.

- All data is fed into dataflows.

- All datasets feed from dataflows.
