Editing Data Model in a Live App

I am stuck and could use some help...

- I created a workspace with a set of reports and a data model. We shall call this DEV.
- I deployed these to an app and it worked. That workspace is called APP.

I wanted to make a change to the data model, which I cannot do in the APP workspace - its greyed out. So I went back to my original DEV workspace. Sadly, I have deleted the reports and left only the model, as I thought I was done and would use the new APP workspace going forward. big mistake.

- Copies of the APP workspace reports dropped into the DEV workspace still link to the APP data model, not the 'local' one..
- Downloading the data model from DEV and uploading to APP workspaces respectively doesnt work. It just creates a duplicate.

A - How do I get the report pages in DEV to link to the old 'DEV' data model? They are identical.
B - Going forward, if I change the data model do I have to deploy a whole new version of the app to the APP workspace every time?

There was no way for me to download the data model from the APP workspace, so I gave up and rebuilt the app as a new instance. Thanks anyway

Download the PBIX from the "APP"  workspace (weird naming, btw).  Open in Power BI Desktop. Change the data sources as needed. Upload into the DEV workspace.

Yeah they're not really called that, just for explanation 😀.

Issue is the download option is greyed out for the model in the APP workspace. So can't download it.
