Dynamics NAV Service Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for OData
I am unable to connect to my on-premise NAV using the Microsoft Dynamics NAV service pack and get the error message
Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the OData source are invalid.Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the OData source are invalid.Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the OData source are invalid.
I am using SSL and have tested the Odata web services and they are working as expected.
I can connect to my Odata via Power BI desktop. I am using the same credentials but the error is only thrown when accessing from the NAV service via Outlook 365 just only seeing the error from the service.
I have tried all authentication methods including Basic which the instructions say to use. Is the NAV service pack available for Power BI desktop?

Which type of auth you used on the dynamic nav pack, have you try to use other auth method? If you share some detail contents it will be help for troubleshooting.

Power bi desktop not contains dynamic connector, you can only use odata mode to connect the datasource.

If you connect with odata mode and publish the report to service, does this report works?

I have tried basic, windows, anonymous and key. This may be part of the issue as in order to log into the web services or the nav on-premise instance we use windows authentication ie.. domain\first.last. The desktop version allows me to authenticate this way but the service pack does not.

Yes if iIconnect via odata from the desktop then publish the report it works as expected as is accessible via mobile and 365 Power BI App We were hoping to be able to utilize the NAV service pack so we would not have to build out the out of the box reports it provides. Do you know if these reports are available any other way ? maybe I can publish them via the desktop app.

Hi hfr1981,
It seems like the issue is related to content pack itself. Perhaps you can submit a support ticket with operate logs which trace by fiddler and share them to power bi team.
Reference link:
Fiddler is a free tool from Telerik that monitors HTTP traffic. You can see the back and forth with the Power BI service from the client machine. This may show errors and other related information.
