Duplicate reports after uploading existing report on Power BI web

My reports get duplicated when i reupload an existing one.
Workflow:
- Create a report from scratch online using the exiting data set & save in the same workspace as data set

- download the report created online and make some adjustments in Power Bi desktop.
- save the report and upload/publish back to the same workspace
- It creates two copies of the same report and also creates dataset & dashboard files.

How can we avoid the duplicate copy of the report ?

This most definitely needs to be solved officially. I see many people with this same issue, and I am one of them!

I have same issue. Any solving @sonalidhar87  ?

 - if I do search with the name of the report I see old report and new one:

      - new report opens

      - old report does not open, but still did not should see him; instead should have been overwritten by new one

If those are thin reports and the dataset they are connected to are different (Dataset in PROD vs Dataset in TEST) then it will create a 2nd report vs overwritting.

This is by design, and I don't like it. But it isn't a bug.

MCSA: BI Reporting

edhans, I am having exactly this issue - trying to re-point a report from old PROD dataset (SSAS on-premise) to new PROD dataset (PBI Premium) using PBI Desktop, then publishing, will not overwrite the published report but creates a duplicate. Several hundred colleagues use this report so I don't want the url to change. How are we supposed to re-point such a report?

No the dataset are same they are linked to same data set. I downloaded this file, opened and did an update & uploaded back.
