Drillthrough limit in Paginated reports

Hi,

I'm using drillthrough links to the same report with different parameters. After clicking 4 of those, the 5th gives me this message:

"Drillthough limit exceeded" "Exceeded the number of drillthrough actions for the report. Your report exceeds the maxiumum of 4 for drillthrough actions. Please contact the report author to reduce them and try again. "

I haven't set a limit. I don't know where to increase the limit. I have searched within the report settings/code and the Power BI admin settings, workspace settings, report management etc. to no avail. I have googled the message and it seems nobody has reported this before. With drillthrough being so new to the PowerBI service paginated reporting, is this a hidden (unannounced/undocumented) limit that I've discovered?? Is there any way to increase it?

Thanks

Per the idea I linked above, this is essentially solved in that there is doco that mentions the limit ( I believe) here:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports/report-design/drillthrough-drilldown-su...

With the relevant line being:  In paginated reports, you can drill through reports down to four (4) levels of child reports.

This doesn't seem like a solution. Can somebody explain why this limitation exists? What is this limitation accomplishing or protecting? My team is starting to move reports from SSRS to PowerBI, and it seems that if we don't understand why Microsoft went out of their way to build this limitation we will be missing something fundamental about the tool's architecture that ought to affect report design decisions.

I've created an idea for this as it seems to be a built in limit that did not exist in SSRS.

As drillthrough was only released in May 2023 (3 months now), I imagine the product team is looking for feedback. Hopefully people here will vote the idea up and we can see the limit increased or removed. Especially when linking to the same report with just one changed parameter.

answer please i got the same @WheresWally
