Download the semantic model of an app

We use some out-of-the-box power bi apps like "Customer Service Analytics for Dynamics 365" and "Intune Compliance (Data Warehouse)" from the power bi appstore. We'd like to develop these further, bringing in some extra data/metrics.
But the "download this file" option is greyed out.
Is there any way to get the pbix of these files?

Hi @alanmccarthy ,

@lbendlin  and @aj1973  both provided good ideas, and I have some additions that I hope will be helpful to you.

The reason why you encounter a grayed out download option is to protect the creator's intellectual property rights. Some apps provide a template file (.pbit) that contains the data model, but require you to connect to the data source when you open the file in Power BI Desktop. Check if the app you are using has a template version available in AppSource.

If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

Hi @alanmccarthy

You need to connect your data to the App in order to have a semantic model to download. Also you can connect to the semantic model directly from your desktop in Live connection mode.

no, that's exactly their point.  You can look at them but you can't have them.  Modifications are limited to what you can do directly in the service.
