Download the .pbix file is greyed out

Hello, Power BI Experts.

Today I've noticed that when I open the report in Power BI Service the "Download the .pbix file" option is greyed out. Last week when I did it, everything was good. I think it might be because of the latest Power BI Service update. I also haven't found any options on Admin Portal I can use for this. All export options are turned on.

Interesting thing that I can do this download from the dataset optins on the right click...I wonder, how can I fix this or this is a normal behaviour for now? Below you can find the screenshots.

This is what I see when I open the report in Power BI Service (the report was created in Power BI Desktop and then published) :

This is what I see on the dataset right click. And the download works perfrectly.

Very appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Hi @Leonid_Kostin ,

I doubt that If you have that report in service published with a really old version of Desktop, the option is greyed out. Please upgrade the Power BI Desktop to the latest version and try again.

Exactly facing the same. I was able to download few days ago,  but it is grey now. Suceed to download with a right click on the dataset.

I fonud that my workspaces differ.

The one that look like this:

All the reports from it have the download  in grey,

The workspaces  that look like this:

the reports  have the download report  available in black.

What  is this workspace setting difference ?

thank you, @Anonymous

looks like it was related to the latest power bi desktop and service updates because currently all is good.

And I've really done nothing. I mean my desktop version get updated monthly automatically. Power BI Service is also something that get updated without my participation. So I am glad it got resolved even without me.

Cheers.

@Leonid_Kostin

If you have applied incremental refresh to you any of your data tables, the download of the PBIX is disabled.

If you try to download from the Dataset option, then you receive a message like below.

"

Can't export to Power BI Desktop format

This dataset has some features in it that can't be downloaded to a .pbix file.

Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

Hi, @Fowmy

Thank you for your reply.

No, I don't have incremental refresh for any of my data tables.

As I mentioned previously, I can download the .pbix file using the dataset options but when I am in the report, the option is greyed out to me. Looks weird because last week it was fine.

Regards,

Leonid
