Download report from my workspace

Hi,

Is there any option to download a power bi report from "my workspace" that has used the dataset from another workspace? I have build this report using a dataset in a workspace and published it to my workspace. thanks.

    Hi~ PBIfanatic

I tested the environment you said in two cases. The first case is as Greg said, when we use Power BI Desktop to connect the dataset to create a report and publish it to my workspace, we can export the PBIX file in the service. In another case, we create a report in my workspace directly by using a dataset from other workspaces,  the Download PBIX file option greyed out.

If you create a Power BI report based on a dataset in one workspace and publish to a different workspace, you and your users won't be able to download it. The download feature is not supported in this scenario.

I hope this document helps: Download a report from the Power BI service to Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

    which lists considerations and limitations.

    Hope it helps!

PBIfanatic I just tested this and confirmed that you are able to download the PBIX file if you have a published Power BI report in My Workspace with a live connection to a dataset in a different workspace. View the report in the Service and then File | Download the pbix file. If you are not seeing that option it might be turned off in Tenant settings.
