Don't see group in RLS security
- Anonymous5 years ago
Hi royalswe
In addition to HusnaBanu413 , you can build four different kinds of groups in Microsoft 365 admin center.
They are Microsoft 365 Group, Distribution groups, Security groups , And Mail-enabled-Group.
We can find three kinds of groups in RLS: Distribution groups, Security groups , And Mail-enabled-Group.
So the type of the group you want to add into RLS may be a Microsoft 365 Group(This kind of group can be found in workspace but can't be found in RLS).
You may build other kinds of groups and add them into RLS.

In Power BI Service, RLS is used for restricting data access for given users, while the group workspace is used for restricting group members to view or edit group content.
You need to maintain two different security groups for this purpose one for RLS and another for Worspace.
Please mark this as solution if this helped you
I'm aware of that but i need to add the group as a viewer in the workspace for them to see the reports. Then I add the group to the RLS where I want the group should have restricting data.
This worked fine until now. I know that the new groups that don't show up in the RLS input box was created in the cloud instead of OnPrem if that could be the trouble somehow. The new groups shows in the share workspace input field though.
