Does user allowed to update report when shared "Allow users to build content from underlying dataset
I have some confusion on when we select option "Allow users to build content from underlying dataset" while sharing report or while publishing app.My confusion is by selecting this option,does user will alowed to edit that report.If yes,if he modifes that & save it,does will reflect same in the report created by me.Or it is just read only access for that report but it allows user to create different report based on the same dataset.
Also if user gets build permission from above option ,will user be able to modify existing dataset or it is read only for him?
On Microsoft page , they have mentioned "You can remove a person's Build permission for a dataset. If you do, they can still see the report built on the shared dataset, but they can no longer edit it." Can no longer edit what report or dataset?
I have checked on Microsoft documentation but I didnot find clear difference mentioned anywhere for Read,Reshare,Build dataset permissions & when one should use which.Please can any one explain in detail.Thanks.

When you giving the build permission, they can:
- Use the app datasets as the basis for their reports.
- Search for these datasets in Power BI Desktop and in the get-data experience in the Power BI service.
- Create reports and dashboards based on these datasets.
When you clear this option, new users you add to the app doesn't get Build permission. However, for existing app users, permissions on the underlying datasets don't change. You can remove Build permission manually from app users who should no longer have it. Read more about Build permission.
They'll see these datasets when they're searching for shared datasets. Read more about allowing users to connect to the app's datasets, in this article.
Users with Build permission can also have permission to copy reports from this app to another workspace. Read more about allowing users to copy reports in the app, in this article.

I also tried to re-pro the issue from my end.
Tried to login to the shared user and he can't able to see the "Edit Report"(Disabled) and Dataset Refresh also not showing, but he can able to create a report by using the dataset.

That checkbox just adds the Build permission to the dataset. The user cannot edit the dataset. I will have to determine if you can actually edit the report.
