Does Power BI datasets access to AD group at the tenancy level allowed to connect to the dataset ?

If users are granted permission to connect to Power BI datasets at the tenancy level (via an AD group), does this membership grant them access to perform the action but still need the dataset-specific AD groups to be allowed to connect to the datasets they require or, does the AD group granting the permission for connecting to datasets need to be added to the dataset too (for granting access)?

Can some one help me on this ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Reddy5833 ,

Users in the AD group which group is granted access to the dataset will have permission to connect to the dataset. In another word, who, including AD group, is listed in the list of permissions for this dataset. It will have access to the dataset.

Power BI dataset is an Analysis Service model online, only the user in the role list will have the permission to connect the model. So it is the power bi dataset granted the access rather then AD group.
