Do the users require Pro license to publish to a Premium workspace

I publish reports to power bi premium, one of my report users want to use the power bi dataset which I published, he want to create his own report on top of it and publish as a new personalised version to the same/other premium workspace in the same tenant,

my questions are :-

1. do that user require pro license to publish the premium workspace?

2. Can the users publish to workspaces other than the workspace of the dataset? If yes, how does the security/permissions work in this case?

Answer for any one question is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Reddy5833 ,

1. Yes, publish reports to any workspace other than My Workspace requires a Pro/PPU license.

2. Yes.

  • Then the user needs to have Build permission of the dataset (contributor and above roles in the workspace automatically have Build permission).
  • Users without a Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license can only use datasets across workspaces for report authoring if those datasets reside in the users' personal My Workspace or in a Premium-backed workspace.
