Do i need Power BI Premium Capacity is needed while we are connecting to Snowflake

Hi Friends,

My source is SnowFlake Views.

I am connecting multiple views in power bi desktop.  As of now using Import mode. We are building a model from scratch.

I have uploded report to Workspace and Provided data connecting using snowflake service User and Password.

Now if our organisation data grows do we need any Premium capacity ?

What if we opt Direct Mode?

Since Snowflake is Cloud DB Do we really need Premium capacity?
Please help me in this.

Regards,

I am using PPU Licensce.

  • Ciao Gopal_PV ,

    here the answers:

Now if our organisation data grows do we need any Premium capacity ?

Answer: not until when your semantic model reached 100 Gbytes if you are using a PPU Workspace (therefore all the people you share with need the same license) or 1 GByte if you use a Pro Workspace (meaning that other people with which you share the workspace pay only a pro license, you can keep your PPU)

What if we opt Direct Mode?

Answer: in that case there is no import so no memory resources involved, so no size limit. BUT performances are much worse than Import mode (and depened heavily on the server that answers you and on the SQL database architecture)

Since Snowflake is Cloud DB Do we really need Premium capacity?

Answer: since it is a cloud DB you will not need a gateway for the refresh but yes if the data you import exceed the above mentioned limits, you will need a premium capacity

If this helped, please consider giving kudos and mark as a solution
