Distinguish between report and dashboard

if I have access to powerbi product that contains many different visuals  published to service, how to tell if this is a report or a dashboard? Previously I thought that, dashboard does not allow nivagation  to another report or any other dashboards nor it can have botton and nivagation elements? Now, I was told that, it can have nivagation elements and allow nivagatons to another pages? Is that correct? I m really confused?

Hi @Ajaal

Assuming your question is purely technical:

A dashboard like the one in the attached image is a collection of visualizations without the ability to filter or interact between them.
Clicking on a visualization takes you to the report from which the visualization is pinned.
+ For the dashboard, there are other actions offered in the toolbar. See what I marked

The report has slicers, interactions, and other toolbar options, please refer to the examples :

But if the report from which the clicked visual pinned has multiple pages, will I be able to nivagate to those other pages using nivagating elements in that report and then go back to dashboard?

Hi @Ajaal - In simple terms, Report and dashboard

  • Report Example: You have a multi-page report with detailed visuals on each page, allowing you to drill down into data, apply filters, and interact extensively with the data.
  • Dashboard Example: You have a single-page view with key metrics displayed in tiles. Clicking on any tile takes you to the detailed report from which it was pinned for deeper analysis.
