Disable Analyze in Excel
Hello,
I would like to ask if anybody knows about a way to disable Analyze in Excel functionality while still having the possibility to connect from Power BI Desktop to datasets that are located in the Power BI service.
The tenant settings,
- Use datasets across workspaces
- Users can work with Power BI datasets in Excel using a live connection
are affecting the use of shared datasets (as far as I know). The official statement is, that Analyze in Excel + Live connection (the requirement for connecting to existing datasets in Desktop tool) are always connected and cannot be separated.
Is anybody aware about a solution for our case, to disable Analyze in Excel while allowing live connections?
Thanks
Johann

That's pretty pointless as your Excel users will learn how to connect to the dataset via SSAS instead.
