Direct connection to SAS EG datasets

Can Power BI connect directly to a SAS EG dataset? I saw a forum post from January 2018 where Power BI users were complaining about that lack of functionality. Does anyone know if the current version of Power BI allows you to establish a live connection to SAS EG?

  • Hi dsrikanthreddy ,

There isn't a native conection with SAS dataset in Power BI Desktop.

You can try to use R Integration in Power BI to connect to SAS.

    For reference:

    Importing SAS data into PowerBI

Loading sas7bdat Files into Power BI

PowerBI and R Integration – Connect SAS dataset

Your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to implement in Power BI currently.
You can vote up this idea for this function:SAS

Or you can submit a new idea to improve the Power BI.
It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

    Best Regards,

    Lucien
