Direct Query for Power BI datasets and Analysis services. Publishing a report in Power BI Service

Hi

I am having an issue when publishing a report in Power BI service. i've combined 2 power BI datatsets (both from workspaces i am Admin on) along with a excel using the new preview feature in power BI desktop of Direct Query for Power BI datasets and Analysis services. in Desktop top this works fine and i can view all datasets toegther.

However when i publish this to power BI service and view in either the workspace or an App i get an error stating there is no gateway to access the data source file. you'll see below its only the 2 power BI datasets which do not load, the excel data still loads fine.

Does the Preview feature work in Power BI service? and if so is there something else i need to configure to be able to view all of the datasets in Power BI service?

If i use just one of the Power Bi Datasets on its own without the other Power Bi Dataset or the excel file  and publish it, it works fine.

thanks Stefano, it appeared to be an issue with the excel file being local and the power BI datasets being in the cloud. Once i moved the excel file to sharepoint and created a web connection so everything was cloud based it worked fine

Your post was helpful @Anonymous ! I had the same error, except that my local source was a SQL Server from which I imported a table. I had to first configure my Power BI gateway for the import source (1), and only then was I able to provide web credentials for the Power BI Datasets (2).

go over to the linage view of the workspace click that dataset at options and click configuration over the gateway section make sure it have a gateway associated to the dataset and that the gateway have enable the cloud base information access. looks something around there its the missing part.
