Datasource with 50+ Excel connections through Gateway
OK, so you're probably going to laugh after reading the title, but yes, I have been asked to setup a datasource for auto-refresh through our on-premise gateway that has connections to 50+ Excel sheets. My questions:
1. Is it even possible to have that many connections for one datasource?
2. Must I create a separate data source for each Excel file or can I just map them to a pre-existing connection to the root of a common folder for all 50+ spreadsheets?
3. Why when I try to refresh through the gateway currently do I receive this error, "Invalid connection credentials"?
Thanks in advance!

1. yes, nothing unusual here
2. you want to connect to the folder(s) where the Excel files reside, not to the Excel files and definitely not to the sheets
3. Are we talking file folder or sharepoint folder? If sharepoint, are we talking on-prem or online? (fun fact: you don't actually need a gateway for the latter)

Hi Anonymous ,
- Yes
- You can choose the data type as the folder when configuring gateway connection without configuring each excel file as a separate data source
- When you use folder as the data type of the gateway configuration, please make sure the path is the folder path in stead of each file path, the credentials of the gateway should be your windows credential on-premiss which has stored these files in the folder.

Well, the report developer just tried a manual refresh and it works. I literally did nothing so we'll see if the scheduled refresh works overnight.
