Dataset with multiple gateways

Greetings all!

How would one configure data refresh when the datasources are using different on premise gateways. I have a dataset that using data from an on prem SQL source and Postgre database on an Azure VM. Both are running on premise gateways. Problem is, I can't configure the refresh to use both gateways.

 

Thoughts?

Thanks heaps for any help or suggestions.

    Hi. The dataset uses only one Gateway to refresh data. In order to accomplish what you have, you need to create one cluster of gateways. The process is pretty simple. First pick up one of the gateways you have, the other one will be deleted.

    Then go to "Manage Gateway" options and turn this check on

     

    hybrid

    Once you have that turned on. You can re-install the deleted gateway following this link:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-install#add-another-gateway-to-create-a-cluster

    That way you have two gateway clients installed but in one cluster of gateways.

      That didn't work in my scenario. The databases are not on the same networks and there is no way for the gateway to connect externally. I tried the set up as recommended and the gateway on the same network as the on premise database could not connect to the Azure database even though its gateway was configured in the on premise gateway cluster.

        I'm sorry but I'm not following the "network" issue you are talking about. If you have two sources, Onprem SQL Server and Postgres in Azure VM. Then you need two gateways in a cluster. Like this: 

        1- Gateway on a local environment that can reach SQL Server on premise.

        2- Gateway on the same Azure VM of the postgres or a different VM with visibility to the postgres.

        If you have those you will be able to connect. Be carefull with gateway installation. Be sure that the VM or PC with the gateway can reach the databases or you won't be able to connect.
