Dataset vs Workspace vs App permission

Hi all,

 

Just had a weird issue with permissions which we have never experienced before.

 

We have a dataset sitting in one workspace, the report is in our main reporting workspace and we have an app build off the reporting workspace.

 

For users to have access to the report and the data via the app, I have had to give permissions in the dataset, in the workspace AND in the app.. 3 different places.. is this new? I've not had to do this before with any other reports in the app, and users have had no issues.
