Dataset size

 Hi All,

I am using a Workspace in a Premium Capacity and I have a PRO account.

I have a dataset which is using as several tables where all of the data sources are FOLDERS and I am using the excel files in those folders.(on-premises data gateway)

The total size of the RAW data I am using and I have connected to PowerBI will be around 9 GBs.

Will this work? I mean will I exceed any kind of limits with this setup?

Ànother important questions for me - Where can I see the dataset size?

My pbix file at the moment is around 10MBs.

Thanks!

Hi there

Your understanding is 100% correct if the column is not needed then remove it in Power Query and it will save you memory, which will improve performance.

Hi there

The easiest way to get a rough guide is to take the size of the PBIX and multiply it by 3 or 4X the size of the PBIX.

Here is my blog post explaining how much memory your dataset will use when using Power BI Premium: https://www.fourmoo.com/2019/06/06/power-bi-premium-performance-part-5-how-much-memory-will-the-pbix...

Dear @GilbertQ

many thanks for the response and the article!

So if I understand correctly:

The Dataset size is responding to "estimated Memory" when using  Vertipaq Analzer?

When reading -

Power BI Premium Performance – Part 2 | Optimization of your Power BI Model

Do I understand correctly - If I remove COLUMNs (from a table) which I don't need this will improve the performance of the report / have a positive impact?

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Ivan
