Helper IIDataset scale-out: Calculate size and performance
Dear community,
we have a P1 and amongst the datasets there is one with a size of 13GB (and other small ones).
We are experiencing overloads every day. User are complaining about the performance. The datamodel has been implemented with all regards to best practice in data modelling.
If I would now enable dataset scaling could this help the overall performance of the system or would it rather even slow down things? Or would it have 0 effect because we cannot keep both copies in the RAM on the P1.

Hi daamruth ,
I think you can try horizontal scaling of the dataset to check if it will help improve the query performance of the dataset, you can specifically refer to this document.

However, if your capacity is constantly overloaded, I think the first thing you may want to do is to improve your capacity CPU time or upgrade your capacity. You may consider installing the Premium usage metrics App, which monitors your capacity and what workloads are constantly consuming your capacity CPU time, resulting in overloading your capacity.

If dataset refreshing continues to be a problem, you can refer to and consider modifying the dataset refreshing strategy to incremental refreshing instead.
