Dataset refresh with service account

Hello All

I am looking forward to know if there is a way to configure scheduled refresh using a service account?

So do I login to Power BI using a service account and when configuring dataset refresh, I need to use "Windows" authentication thereby using service account for login?

In short, I want to know how do I use a service account to configure dataset refresh?

Regards

I use service accounts for my refreshes, however i only use them as credentials for the sources themselves.  This is done either as part of the gateway's entries, or for individual cloud sources.

When you set up a schedule, you can also set up for emails to be sent to other people on failures, in case you need a ticketing system or group to action any issues.

Even if I set up a refresh, other users can "Take over" and update the refresh if required, assuming they are set up correctly in the workspace and with any gateways.

  • I have a similar issue. I created a CDS User Account (Azure App Registration). I can log into this account with Flow and have flow do any number of things, and that user account is added to Dynamics, uses the app client id, along with the tenant id and secret to authenticate. I would love to be able to use that account to refresh data sources, but I cannot see where this can be done. Let me know if anyone has been able to succesfully do this.

    Thanks!
