Dataset Data Source Credentials Error - Azure SQL Database

Hello,

I am unable to refresh, or schedule a refresh, for my dataset published to my Power BI workspace.  My data source is Azure SQL Database, so I don't believe I need a Gateway setup.  The gateway connection section also says I don't need a gateway because all of the data is in the cloud.

Processing errorMicrosoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.)

I can refresh the data set in Power BI desktop with the same credentials, so I know it is not an error in the credentials.

I greatly apprecaite in help!

Hi, @JCarr1321

According to your description, I think maybe something wrong in the sql server, like TCP/IP ,firewall.

You can follow Troubleshoot connecting to the SQL Server Database Engine  to check the problem, and here are some similar solved cases.

Solved: Can't connect to SQL Server named instance - Microsoft Power BI Community

Solved: Data Gateway error - Microsoft Power BI Community
