Datamart - Can't Create New Measures

I have a datamart in Dev, Test, and Prod workspaces in a deployment pipeline.  I am trying to create a new measure in the Dev workspace, but I am unable to commit it.  I also don't get any suggestions when trying to compose it in the Model tab.  There is no error message, and commit is not greyed out, it simply doesn't do anything.  If I click out of the compose box, the measure either keeps the default "Measure =" or disappears entirely.  I have previously been able to create messages in the same datamart, but I cannot edit them now either.

I managed to solve the problem! <-- 😃

I reopened the edit data with powerquery online, changed the "name" of the table that did not allow creating measures, clicked on update and save.

After waiting for the ETL process to finish, I tried to add the measure again and it allowed it.

Apparently it was incorrectly associated in the fabric backend. But once we force reload the data it is solved.

I hope it helps the next person who has this problem in the future because there is no information on the internet about this error.

Hi, @brft

I created a datamart in Power BI Service based on your question, and I can create Measure in Home view, but I can't show it.

If you want to view the Measure created, you can do so under Reporting.

For your problem, I think the reason for not being able to create it may be due to the lagging of the web page, it may also be due to the dataset is too large caused by the Measure has a period of buffering time, you can also check to see if you entered the Measure code correctly, if all these can't solve your problem, I hope that you can provide me with more information on your question.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the detailed test. I am able to create measures with no problem in other datamarts.  I had also thought maybe it was a buffering/lag issue, as the datamart in question is rather larger (this table has maybe 30k records, so not that big).  I tried to commit and leave the page for upwards of 30 minutes, but it didn't seem like it had an impact.

I am also able to make the same measure on the same table in PBI Desktop, so I don't think it is a syntax issue.  I have also tested some very simple measures just in case.  For reference, the one I specifically want to create is

% Registered Timely = CALCULATE(COUNTROWS('Deviation Records'), 'Deviation Records'[DV Registration Target] = 1)/COUNTROWS('Deviation Records')

Hi @brft

It could be that there is an issue with the power of BI service. Sometimes this gets resolved typically in a few hours, which you could then try again. if this has not been working for a few days my next solution is to log a support ticket.
