Dataflows not connecting to SSAS through gateway with Blank Query

I'm trying to create a Dataflow that connects to an on-premises SSAS tabular cube through a gateway. The gateway is working fine with our Power BI reports that do not use a dataflow. I'm using the "Blank Query" connector because there is no dedicated connector for SSAS. I've copied the M-query from Power BI desktop into the Blank Query.   It doesn't seem to be working for SSAS or a SQL Server database.  I get an error message saying: Something went wrong while retrieving details for the on-premises data gateway. Please try agian later.

I was able to work around the SQL Server Database issue by first connecting using the dedicated connector for SQL Server and then creating a Blank Query that connects to the same server. I'm guessing there's an issue with creating the intial connection with the Blank Query. But since there is no dedicated SSAS connector, I can't create that intial connection prior to using the Blank Query.

I know dataflows are new but I'm surprised Microsoft isn't supporting a connection to their own SSAS technology. As far as I can tell there's no way to connect to an on-premises cube to create a dataflow. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong? (Thanks in advance!)

Hi @PunkDoubtBI ,

Current power bi seems not supported SSAS connector, maybe you can try to use other connectors to create data entity on dataflow side.(e.g. odbc, ole db...)

OLAP, Analysis Services connection strings
