Hello,
after upgrading our Licensing from PowerBI Pro to PowerBI Premium, I am very disappointed 😞.
We are struggling since one week to use Dataflows in an effective Way, but every Day we face a new Problems. One of our biggest Problem is, that the refresh Performance is very, very slow.
When we use our Query in Power BI Desktop, it only takes 2-3 Minutes
When we use our Query in PowerBI Service to create a Dataset it takes also 2-3 Minutes,
But when we use the same Query in Dataflows, it take 40-50 Minutes.
The amount of Data for our Tests are not realy huge. It is a simple Table with Ø 2.1 Mio Lines and the output PBIX is 220 MB.
We tested everything that we have found in Community to solve the Problem.
But nothings works. It is too slow to use it an effective Way.
So has anyone an Idea what we could also optimize, to have in Dataflows the same speed as in the other methods ?
Thx
Michael
Yes, Dataflows in PowerBI are very slow. All our data is in Azure. Refresh continue until timeout.
Hi @BileMG,
In fact, refresh performance not only effect by power bi service status and resource, it also affected by other scenarios.
Where are your gateway hosted? Does your device contain enough idle resources for refresh operation? What about its network status? (these options all effect refresh performances)
In addition, have you changed your data region of the tenant when you upgrade licenses? (If your tenant region is different as your data source hosts, it may cause the issue)
BTW, you can also try to setting incremental refresh on your dataset to loading a small number of records to confirm if this issue is related to data amount.
Incremental refresh in Power BI Premium
You can also contact to power premium support to trace the request to confirm the root reason for refresh performance. (power bi support ticket is free for pro and above licenses)
