Dataflow gen1 stuck in cancelling

My dataflow is stuck in cancelling and has been for an hour. What can i do?

  • Hi Sebfrank try manually refreshing it to reset the state. Check for any dependent processes using the dataflow and pause them if needed. Clear the workspace cache to remove any temporary issues.

  • Hi Sebfrank,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Also thank you Akash_Varuna, for his inputs on this thread. I have identified few workarounds that may help resolve the issue. Please follow these steps:

I understand how data modelling issues like this can impact your report outcomes. Use the Power BI REST API to force stop: If you have admin privileges and know the Dataflow workspace and ID. Use the REST API Cancel Dataflow Refresh. To find the latest stuck refresh.

    GET https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/groups/{groupId}/dataflows/{dataflowId}/refreshes

To delete and restore the Dataflow: If the API is not functioning or inaccessible, follow these steps: Navigate to Power BI Service > Workspace > Dataflows. Export the dataflow definition by selecting “Download .json”. Delete the problematic dataflow. Re-import it by choosing “Create > Dataflow > Import .json”. Test the refresh again.
Ensure you have exported and saved the schema before deletion to prevent data loss.
