Greetings,
One of my team members is not able to take over a gen 1 dataflow, with the following error:
Taking ownership failed, you can try again. Request ID: 5f8e7cc4-edf6-371b-91dc-fec452c7edd1
The team member has admin rights in the workspace so this is not the issue.

Hi @KilianvR ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
Please check below things to fix the issue.
1. The Gen 1 dataflows have limitations when compared to Gen 2 dataflows. Some of the ownership actions might not be supported or may require additional permissions.
2. Please check the workspace is not in a restricted mode like read-only or governed by deployment pipelines.
3. In some cases due to cached credentials or session issues can cause this problem. Try from a different browser or different account.
4. If manual takeover fails, Please use the Power BI REST API to reassign ownership might work.
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Regards,
Dinesh

We had a similar issue recently and raised a ticket. Microsoft dragged their feet, and the issue "went away by itself" after 24 hrs. You still want to raise the ticket.
