Hi Team,
We have SAP HANA as database and we use a service account to connect to this db to do the reporting. We are able to successfully connect to this SAP HANA database from Power BI using SAP HANA database connector and authenticating using "Database" option as pictured below.
To refresh the data, we have installed an on-prem data gateway. Now the challenge is we don't see "Database" authentication option. We only see "Basic" and "Windows" as pictured below.
I'm not sure on how to proceed further. Can someone please help me on the same?
Thanks!
Hi @AD_SNOW ,
To my knowledge, authentication is not supported using Database when adding SAP HANA data sources to the gateway.
You can try to use Basic or Windows for authentication and you need to keep the authentication method on PBI desktop consistent.

Cool, Thanks @Anonymous for your response. I have tried using the Windows authentication as well. But, I'm getting the below error.
Strange thing is, I'm successfully able to connect to the same HANA system using windows authentication via HANA Studio and Power BI Desktop as well. Facing the issue only when I'm configuring the gateway connection. FYI - Both PBI Desktop and on-prem data gateway are updated to sept 2022.
Not sure on what exactly I'm missing. Please help me on the same.
Thanks!
