Data source extension is missing credentials - Composite Model
- Anonymous3 years ago
I love when while looking for an answer I find the solution myself. 😂
The thing I missed was that I needed to insert my credentials for the shared datset AND the dataflow separately.
I totally missed that "Edit credentials" is shown two-times.
Thus, the mytsery is solved.
Cheers
I've created a report based on a Power BI dataset in Direct Query Mode from Dremio Software .
It works fine running in the Power BI Desktop . But in the Power BI service , report server ; I get the error "The data source Extension is missing credentials and cannot be accessed". i tried to verify the credentials which is the same on pozer bi desktop but it"s refused on Power Bi service
Did you find a solution to this

Yes and it is this:
ISSUE+SOLUTION::published report Fabric datasource... - Microsoft Fabric Community

I was given to this read by a Microsoft SE to explain why there is an extra authentication step:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-admin-power-bi-security
and this short explanation as well:• The Back-End cluster determines how authenticated clients interact with the Power BI service. The Back-End cluster manages visualizations, user dashboards, semantic models, reports, data storage, data connections, data refresh, and other aspects of interacting with the Power BI service. The Gateway Role acts as a gateway between user requests and the Power BI service. Users don't interact directly with any roles other than the Gateway Role. Azure API Management eventually handles the Gateway Role.
