Data size too huge for import

Hi Team,

I need help as my data set size at backend is too huge it will go upto 30 gb with all client data.

Currently dashboards are built using import mode but since service doesnt give that much data size flexibility, please suggest as what needs to be done.

Above al import will not give user flexibility to see live data.

Can anyone suggest a solution to achieve this in power bi?

Thanking in advance.

Honey

    Hi  Anonymous,

Based on the document, there is a 1 GB limit, per dataset, that is imported into Power BI. If you have chosen to keep the Excel experience, instead of importing the data, you will be limited to 250 MB for the dataset.

Currntly, Power BI Premium supports uploads of Power BI Desktop (.pbix) files that are up to 10 GB in size.

For your scenario, you could split your dataset and try again.

In addition, if the data size is large, we always consider to try with Direct Query or live connection.

Finally, you also could submit your idea in Power BI ideas Forum and add your comments there to improve Power BI.

    Best Regards,

    Cherry

      Hi there

There are two possible solutions here:
      1. If you are looking for something more real-time you would need to have either Azure Analysis Services or On-Prem SSAS Tabular and connect your Reports and dashboards to this.
      2. If you want to keep it all imported you would then need to go with power BI Premium where you can have a 10GB size limit and use incremental refresh to only update the latest data.
