Data set ownership
Hi Power Bi Experts ,
Is it possible ,
Suppose , I have publsihed the data set in the workspace and made a particular security group a workspace admin.
and they will be able to see the data sets , without asking for credentials and all.
I want a way where data ownership is shared to the group members , currently its just that the one who published the data set it the owner but not others.
one thing i came across is the tak over option , but it does not fulfill the requirement.
If its not possible kinldly provide supportive documents and if its possible how ??
please help.

Thank you for your question. In Power BI, dataset ownership is currently limited to the individual who publishes the dataset, and it cannot be directly assigned to a security group or shared among multiple users as co-owners.
While assigning a security group as Workspace Admin grants the group members access to manage and view the dataset, it does not transfer ownership rights such as modifying credentials or establishing scheduled refreshes tied to a different identity.
The "Take Over" option, as you mentioned, allows another user to assume ownership, but this action replaces the existing owner rather than enabling shared ownership. Unfortunately, Power BI does not yet support collaborative dataset ownership, and this limitation is a known concern for teams managing shared content.

It not about sharing , everytime user publishes the data he has to share it , i want
that all the data set in the worksapce is availble to all the people in the group.
ownership of the dataset can be sahred to them as well.Hi govind_021 ,

When a dataset is published to a workspace, it's owned by the user who published it. Even if others in the workspace are Admins or Members, they can see and use the dataset, but they don’t become co-owners by default.Make your security group Contributors or Members of the workspace. They will be able to View and use all datasets in that workspace. Create reports based on any dataset. However, they will not be able to reconfigure gateways or refresh settings unless they are Admins.
