Data refresh returning inconsistent data

Hi,

I have created a query in Power Query editor that queries data from a SharePoint list. When I refresh the data manually in Power BI desktop it returns the correct results. When I refresh through Power BI online either manually or through a scheduled auto refresh it returns incorrect data. The list where the data is held is protected by SharePoint permissions and only accessible by users with a certain permission level. Has anyone got any idea as to why this would happen?

  • Do you use time based filters? Is the service access token generated by a different user?

    Hi WMB1986 ,

Thanks for the reply from lbendlin .

Here are some factors that I think may be affecting it:

In Power BI Service, navigate to the dataset settings and check under "Data Source Credentials" that the credentials are correct.

Are you using a gateway to refresh data from a SharePoint list? If so, make sure the gateway is online and configured correctly. The account that the gateway uses to connect to the SharePoint list should also have the required permissions.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.
