Data refresh for SharePoint online list - command is cancelled

Hi,

I have a PowerBI report that has 3 SharePoint online lists as its data sources. All 3 lists live in the same tenancy / site collection / site

The list owner is the tenancy admin

The PowerBI report was created by the tenancy admin

PowerBI report is shared to all users and resides in the All User Workspace

When a data refresh is done manually from the web UI the following error is thrown. The same error is also thrown when the data refresh is scheduled.

For the scheduled data refresh the tenancy admin credentials are used for OAUTH2 authentication

Last refresh failed: Tue Jan 23 2018 15:22:37 GMT+0800 (W. Australia Standard Time)
There was an error when processing the data in the dataset.

Message:The command has been canceled. Table: TimeManagement.
Cluster URI:WABI-AUSTRALIA-SOUTHEAST-redirect.analysis.windows.net
Activity ID:cdc3b65f-a860-4a3d-8a18-7df068f6a0a0
Request ID:2c69f120-e76a-fa67-fd2f-25742cf92fc1
Time:2018-01-23 07:22:37Z

With the same report in the PowerBI desktop (logged into the tenancy with the teancy admin credentials) with the same data sources when a refresh is requested the data does refresh - albeit quite slow in connecting before the data transfer occurs (data transfer is quick).

Data in the SharePoint tables is minimal with 2 tables having around 600 row of data and the third about 200 rows. No blob data is stored in the tables.

Any assistance to trouble shoot this issues would be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Hi @SolutionsItCTO,

Do you have any other type of data source in current .pbix file? Do you have a Pro or Free license?

Does this table 'TimeManagement' esist in current dataset? Please open file in desktop to check the applied steps under query editor mode to see whether there existing any error.

Hi Yuliana,

Thanks for your reply

I am using an O365 user with a PowerBI Pro license in that tenancy

The only data sources in the PBIX file is the 3 SharePoint online lists

Opening the PBIX from the PowerBi Desktop application and checking the Query Editor applied steps no errors are present. A refresh of the data at this point occurs quickly and without error

Rechecking on the PowerBI Web UI and refreshing the dataset of the published report there still results in the reported error above

Thanks

Craig

Hi Yuliana,

Any further feedback on this issue

Thanks

Craig
