good morning all,
please, i want to know, if it is possible to install 2 data gateways in 2 different SQL server ( from our 2 different production sites) and connect them with my username to schedule refresh in power bi service.
thank you all
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes I see your issue, It's a personnal Gateway and Power BI service(Logged in with your user name) can only accpet one Personal Gateway at a time. And a personal Gateway can only be used by its owner.
Can you install a Standard Gateway on the Server n 2?

hi @aj1973 thank you for your answer,
i installed the gateway in the differents servers (VMs), but when i go in power bi service i have only one gateway connection, i haven't 2. as this image from microsft, that i can choose for each report wich gateway connexion to schedule the refresh from.
in my case, i have only one
i need like this result
Actually it is not possible :
According to the Microsoft Fabric Community, it is currently not possible to use data sources from different gateways in a single dataset. However, there are some workarounds that you can try. For example, you can create separate datasets for each gateway and then merge them in a single report. Alternatively, you can use Power Query to combine data from different sources into a single table.
You can add your idea :

in my case it is not a single dataset, they are 2 differents reports (one in each server, in each production site)
i published the reports from the different sources, but when i go in power bi service to schedule the refresh for the dataset 2, i found it's connected to the gateway of the dataset 1
like in this image

good morning
it works perfectly, thank you my friend @aj1973
another thing, if you permit, now if i want to merge the two reports in only one and make a switch button to choose the production site, is it possible?
(the two datasets are the same, just the location change)
thank you so much
From your desktop connect to both datasets
And build a new report from the combined datasets. Create a page for each Dataset/Report and add a Bookmark(Optional) to navigate between the 2 pages .
Just wondering out of the box, do you know about Dataflows? because in your scenario it would have been better if you used One Dataflow to upload data from both servers and then use it for your report. Hence you have only one schedule refresh which is the Dataflow.
Anyway, it was just an idea. You are Welcome Sofiene 😉

thank you my friend, at first i'll try the bookmarks, and then i'll learn more about dataflows.
thanks again, you helped me alot
ahh ok, thank you, i'll download the standard one, and try it.
The picture from Microsoft shows 2 different Gateways , Standard and Personal Gateway installed on the same server but only one can work.
