I have created a power bi report using SSAS tabular model deployed in my local Analyis Server. When I deployed the Power BI file to power bi service and setup gateway connection, i'm facing error "There was data source error. Please contact Gateway Administrator".
When I checked error logs of gateway, found this error : "InnerToString=<ccon>Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdErrorResponseException: The following system error occurred: The name provided is not a properly formed account name.
at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.XmlaClient.CheckForSoapFault"
The analysis server and enterprise gateway is installed on same system.
Please help me.
Hi @maynkk
Please follow the steps below for troubleshooting.
1. Make sure the current gateway is online.
2. Make sure your data source connection is successful and the data source is accessible normally.
3. Make sure your account can get data from the data source.
4. Was it possible to get data from this data source from Power BI Service before?

Hi @Anonymous,
Thank you for your response.
I tried all the steps mentioned by you and they are working as expected.
And no previosly i never tried getting data from this analysis server. This is the first time I'm using this analysis server model to create report.
Hi @v-yetao1-msft,
I think my reply was a bit misleading.
I tried all the above steps and still the data access error is present.
If you can still help.
Thanks
The analysis server and enterprise gateway is installed on same system.
That is very much not recommended. They will fight for the compute and memory resources. Gateway cluster members should have their VM all to themselves.
