Data Source without Gateway cluster name
I have on-prem Gateway. But few data sources have no Gateway cluster name and I cannot add users to them.
What are these ohter data sources? Do I need them?
For example I have data source Dataflows for power bi data flows, where I can add users and {"extensionDataSourceKind..."} where I cannot add users and no gateway cluster is assigned.
Thanks.
Hi aaldo_666 ,
Based on my research, please try these suggestions:
A. Enable "Allow user's cloud data sources to refresh through this gateway cluster" in your gateway cluster settings as per: Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
B. Follow the below steps:
- Go the Create Dataflow page.
- Select "Add new Entities"
- Select "Blank query"
- Select the "On-Premises Data Gateway" that you wanted to use for the above dataset.
- Now we must paste a query that was generated in the PowerBI Report in PowerBI Desktop.
5a) Open up the report in PowerBI Desktop.
5b) Go to Transform Data.
5c) Select a query from the dataflow and click on Advanced Editor
5d) Copy the Entire query
- Paste the query and hit next
- Click "Configure Connection"
- Use Authentication Kind: "Organizational Account" and sign in as yourself.
- Save & close
- Now you can go back to the dataset settings page you should be able to map 'Extension{"extensionDataSourceKind":"PowerBI","extensionDataSourcePath":"PowerBI"}' to 'PowerBI' and hit apply
