Data Source Settings for Gateway

I setup an enterprise gateway and can successfuly connect to it, and can upload my files from Power BI desktop (on prem) to the online service.  From what I understand the Enterprise version can run as a service, unlike the personal what runs as an application...this make the enterprise gateway much better?

I can not get the scheduled refresh working as I understand that I have to manually setup the data sources in the gateway, instead of it just knowing what ones are in the report and it being able to do its own refresh from the credentials of the uploaded report that is on the server.

With that, I'm tryin got add a new data source under the gateway cluster, and I have a Pervasive Database and 1 excel file (located on the same server) connected in the power BI desktop report that I'm trying to use.  Is there a way to copy and paste the connection string from the power bi desktop report as i'm not sure what it is.  Also, I'm fairly certain there is no username or password for the database...but when adding a data source to the gateway cluster and selecting ODBC datasource, it won't accept null values for the username and password.

help! 🙂

Hi there

Have a look at this post and see if it helps you below. What I would suggest is to just put anything into the username and password even though it is not required, but it will satisfy the gateway data source.

And here is another link which might assist you:
