Data Models gets deleted when I open the file in Desktop

Hi Everyone!

I'm facing an issue like never before. I have a report that has many tables connected to SQL server. It is running fine on Power BI Server, the data gets updated every two hours and it's working perfectly fine.

However, when I try to open the file in Power BI Desktop. It gives me a popup that says something like: "You have pending changes. Apply or Discard"

When I hit Apply, all my visuals go away and a "Fix this" button appears on all of the visuals.

Please note that this happens to both Report file and the Semantic Model File. I've tried everything, but no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi @qasimkhan

I have noticed this is has happened to me in the past. What I can recommend doing is just click on discard and everything should remain as is. I think that there is a bug with the software.

Hi @qasimkhan,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

It looks like the issue you are facing in Power BI Desktop where you see a "Pending Changes" prompt and broken visuals after applying changes. This may happen because of various reasons. Try to look at the mentioned points and do some troubleshooting steps.

* Check if there is any Data source connection mismatch. Try to update credentials in Power BI Desktop.

* Also check if there is any schema changes done in SQL Server. Modify your Power Query steps to match new

   schema (if changes happened).

* You can also clear cache and restart Power BI.

I would also take a moment to thank @GilbertQ, for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions you’ve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.

If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.
