Data Gateway connection issue in Power BI Service

Hi,

I'm facing issue in maping gateway connection to the connections in the report, as in the below screenshot same connection "gdw prod" is appearing twice and not able to Apply the gateway connection.

Any suggestion how to resolve this, if I publish the report as new then there is only one connection for gdw prod.

Need help as I can't delete the report and publish it again because it is shared with users.

  • Can't upload the file again as New as that would be generate new report link which I don't want. Re-publishing the report also did not help as the 2 duplicate connections are still there.

What helped is publishing a blank report with the same name to the same workspace so it would remove the connections and then publishing again the original file which updated the connection and now I only have 2 intended connections. Simple Power BI hack!

  • You have a spelling mismatch between the connection details on the Power BI Desktop and on the gateway.  (Since June 2020 gateway connection details are case sensitive).  Correct the settings on the desktop so they match the gateway's, and then re-publish the pbix and the app (if applicable). After that the gateway will be selectable again.

Nopes that's not the case as I've other reports too which have same connection name and correctly maps to each other for e.g., gdw prod maps to GDW Prod ODBC and gdw dev maps to GDW Dev ODBC.
Here I'm seeing same connection name twice but not able to apply as Apply is disabled.

        Hi, hatim-stovewala

I'm afraid there is no other way but to upload a new file again.

As of now,Power BI doesn't support deleting or changing the datasource in dataset on PowerBI Service. You need to edit it on PowerBI desktop.

You can open a support ticket with MSFT to seek technical support , they may have better suggestions.
