We would like to create a dashboard for a director who would like to see the summary of both Sales and Marketing reports. We have designed sales and marketing as two different datasets as most of our business users need either access to only sales or marketing dataset. Having two different sets provides us the flexibility of controlling the access.
We can very well pin visualization from both sales and marketing reports on the dashboard but the challenge if given the provision to filter on the dashboard which can be applied to all the reports. A business director would like to have a provision to filter the dashboard to see the summary of sales and marketing across different countries, portfolio’s, years, etc. For example, he/she would like to select the year as 2019 which should automatically filter both sales and marketing visualization on the dashboard.
We don’t want to create a complete data model for sales, marketing, and finance which might help us to deliver this requirement.
As per our understanding, there is no dashboard prompt capability available within POWER BI. Any suggestions will be much appreciated?
hi, @powerbi-user
I think you may try to use RLS in the dataset.
Add a tag column for different datasets, then append the datasets and set dynamic RLS for it
