Dashboard access is fine but restrict Report access

Is there a setting where users can only see the dashboard I share and not have access to the actual report in PowerBI Service?

OK, I just tested this out, the RLS route will not work. The Dashboard actually preserves the RLS information, which is a good thing. However, you can achieve what you want by sharing the Dashboard. Then, go to the report and go to "Share". At the top there will be an option for "Access". Click that, find the user and remove their access while leaving their permissions to the dashboard. Works, just tested it out.

Hi

Test as Greg_Deckler advise, it works!

Remove end user in the "access" setting of the "share report" option.

When the end user click on the tile in the shared dashboard, then instead of going to see reports, it shows

Hmm, that's a good question. Perhaps implement RLS. Pin the tile to the dashboard but have the user be excluded from seeing any information via RLS. Wonder if that would work?

Yeah, I've know of RLS, however I was looking for a more straightfoward solution(if there was) because I want to maintain the same PowerBI file and have different reports in it. I would then manage visibility through Dashboards. I was actually trying to look (or hoping) for something like:

File > Options & Settings > Report Setting > "Allow Access to Report"

Hi,

I tried the above andunfortunately it is not working. I removed access to both the report and dataset. However I may still enter the report by clicking in the dashboard's tile. Can someone advise what may be the reason for it not working? Thank you.
